If you’re self-employed or run your
own business, your days are probably
packed with such activities as:
Getting that important document to your client on time.
Creating new products or services that help solve your clients’ problems.
Going the extra mile to make your customers
happy.
On top of all that, you have a life, too.
I know, balancing a business, family, health and
friends can feel overwhelming. I used to feel that
way all the time.
The thing is, when you have a lot on your plate,
you have to make choices about how you are going
to invest your time.
And, if you’re like most
people who want to make a difference and be
successful, you spend the majority of your time
working on your business.
And even though you
truly value your family, health and friends …
well, they get put on a permanent backburner. As
a result, you are overworked, stressed and maybe
a bit resentful too.
But there is a way out of this, and it doesn’t involve
moving to a deserted island.
To live the life you really want, you have to
change the way you get stuff done.
For starters, one thing you can do is to get rid
of the “time-sucking vampires.”
That’s what I call those activities that suck
your energy and detract you from achieving your
big goals and living the life you want to live.
In my
7-week Clutter-Clearing, Performance-Boosting
program, I share my simple strategies for getting
rid of wasted time, and finding hidden pockets of
quality time, so that you can become more effective,
more successful and more aligned with how you really
want to live. And without the typical burnout
most people experience.
Imagine, what if you could get more done in less time?
What would you do with that extra time?
A little R&R, or perhaps start that big project that
would totally propel your business to the next level, or
simply have time to enjoy what you worked so hard for??
Not only will I tell you how to achieve this, I’ll show you.
I purposely designed the 7-week Clutter-Clearing,
Performance-Boosting program so that you will
learn a great deal about how to improve the way
you work in a very short amount of time.
We’re not
going to spend hours and hours talking about how
you can boost your performance.
Instead, in just
30 minutes a week for seven weeks, you’ll witness
first-hand how a lot can be accomplished in very
little time.
The result? You
will feel lighter and in charge of your
business and your life.
If that sounds pretty damn good to you, then
click here to join me today.
Erin
PS – There are 5 days left to join me. And
trust me, just making the decision to see a
positive change in how you use your time, will
have you feeling lighter, more positive and in
charge BEFORE we even get started.

Today I share 4 simple steps on How to Cleanse.
In Part I, I talked about the 6 signs you should
look for to know if it’s time for a cleanse.
But what I didn’t talk about was how to cleanse
or that you can cleanse by doing more than just
changing what you eat.
If you’re not sure why you should bother with a
cleanse, check out my first post then click the back
button to come back here and learn more.
How to Cleanse?
Step 1: Identify the areas of your life that are
cluttered and congested. In Part I, I focused
primarily on the body. But, maybe your performance
would benefit most by cleansing or decluttering in
one or more of the following areas:
- Your mind? Thought processes? Mindset practices?
- Your body? Exterior? Interior?
- You physical environment? Home? Office? Car? Work bag?
- Your digital environments? Email in box? File storage? Programs/software? Voice-mail?
- Relationships? Personal? Professional?
- Business practices? Back-office operations? Customer/client interfacing practices? Communications? Marketing? Sales? Supply management? Other?
- Your Calendar? Appointments? Type/location of calendar? Task management?
- Your “To do” list? Size? Location? Tracking?
- Other? You fill in the blank: _________ .
Step 2: Make a list of the top 3 things that are
draining your energy.
Step 3: Pick your top energy “drainer” and go to
work. Cleanse, declutter, delete, recalibrate, refresh,
organize… whatever is needed to shed the old
decayed, congested energy and invite in new,
refreshed, reinvigorating energy.
Step 4: Take a deep breath and appreciate all
your hard work.
Step 5: Repeat until you’ve tackled your top 3
things and experienced a boost in your
performance.
Not sure how to go about tackling Steps 3 and 4?
Stay tuned.
New Group Program
I’ll soon be announcing the details of my new
group program. By phone, you can join me from
anywhere. By investing just 30 minutes a week for
7 weeks you’ll experience immediate results. And
not by doing more.
I’ll show you how simple and enjoyable it can be
to boost your performance by decluttering key
areas of your life by DOING LESS!
In Part III of this series on Cleansing, I’ll
share simple tips for implementing a Springtime
dietary cleanse without starving yourself and
without spending hard-earned money on
unnecessary supplements or detox treatments.

When you are your own boss, when you run your own
business, your energy level is critically
important. But if you are feeling exhausted,
congested, bloated, sluggish, or foggy, then
these signs of imbalance can directly impact
your performance.
One way to hit the re-set button is to do a
cleanse.
The traditional time of year to cleanse is April,
with the transition from winter to spring. This
guidance comes from Traditional Chinese Medicine,
and the cleanse focuses on cleaning out the liver.
Why?
In the winter months, in order to stay warm, we
tend to eat foods with a higher fat content. This
is natural and healthy, because fat helps
insulate the body and keep it warm.
Once the Earth begins to warm up, we no longer
need that insulation, and cleaning up the liver
helps to lighten the body’s load. Eating in tune
with the season, means that you start to eat
lighter spring greens. And many of the spring
greens, you will notice, are more bitter in
flavor. That is perfect, because foods with a
bitter energetic quality help to cleanse the
liver.
Yes, there are other times a year to cleanse. The
second best time of year tends to be in the mid
autumn period. Again, this is based on the wisdom
and guidance of Chinese medicine.
(And, there are other ways to move stuck energy
that I’ll expand on in a future post.)
But ultimately, the best guide is your own body’s
wisdom. And with the strange weather we’ve had
this year, with warmer winter temps, your body
may be craving a cleanse earlier.
What signs should you look for to let you know if
it’s time to cleanse?
One, your body might feel heavy and sluggish or
you may be experiencing more congestion than
usual.
Two, your skin may be more prone to break outs or
other conditions that suggest the body is out of
balance.
Three, your bowels specifically may be more
sluggish or constipated.
Four, your energy level may be lower than what’s
normal for you this time of year.
Five, you may generally have the feeling of just
being stuck in life.
Finally, you just might have this idea that a
cleanse is the right thing for you, and that’s
enough.
And while there are other reasons, ultimately…
Follow your body’s intuitive guidance. A cleanse
might just be what you need to get back on track,
improve your focus and productivity, and improve
your performance.
Stay tuned for another blog post soon about how
to cleanse.

It’s simple
Though not necessarily easy
It doesn’t require any special pills or
supplements
Nor the purchase of a special book or DVD
Nor is it sexy
So for all these reasons
It’s not a raging fad
But it is the longest known
Approach to dieting and weight loss
That I know of
It’s called mindful eating
And it requires two things:
One – you
Two – your attention
The first is pretty easy to come by
Since you are usually with yourself
The second is not so easy these days
With your complex “to do” list
And so many devices beeping and distracting you
But once you get your attention on board
It’s pretty simple
Here’s how it works:
You, alone with you, and whatever you are eating
Focusing all your senses and your wandering mind
on eating
(you’ll soon discover why, in yoga, we call it a
monkey mind – swinging here and there, up to all
kinds of mischief!)
Pay attention to what you notice
The data that each of your senses is gathering in
And respect what you learn
Starving? Interesting. Take a bite, of course,
but ask yourself why did you wait so long to eat?
Don’t like the flavor? Don’t eat it then. Period.
Not hungry? Don’t eat. Enough said.
Full already? Great. Stop eating and move on.
Adding seasoning (or dressing or whatever) out of
habit? Really want it?
Swallowing bites whole without chewing? Why in
such a rush?
Eating for reasons other than hunger? First,
welcome to the club. Second, take note of why and
pause. Breathe into what you are observing and
write it down. Then, move on and do something else
– but don’t eat.
Mindful eating.
Yes, it is eating.
But, it’s different this way, being mindful of why and when and how.
And – most important – respecting what you learn
and heeding that wisdom.
In this way
I lost weight
Without dieting
Or exercising more.
And as a result I felt:
-Lighter
-Freer
-More in control
-Better about myself
-More energized
-Comfortable in my skin and in my clothes
-Clearer in my thinking
-More focused and inspired about work
The old way is dieting
The new way is mindful eating
If you decide to give it a go
And try an honest experiment
With mindful eating
I guarantee you will feel some or all of this way
too
And maybe lose weight as a by-product of getting
to know more about your relationship with food
But if implementing this approach is more
challenging than you expected
And you would like support
breaking through to the other side
Then sounds like it’s time for you to meet with me

“You mean a food’s energetic qualities can affect
my ability to lose weight and perform at my
optimum level?“
Absolutely!
Let’s say you really want to lose weight because
dragging the extra pounds around is tiring you
out, making your joints ache, and ultimately
making life less fun.
Ask yourself: “Are the energetic qualities of the
foods I’m eating supporting my desire to lose
weight?“
Want to listen to this blog instead? Click Blog_012712_FoodChoices2.
Here, the term “energetic qualities” simply
refers to the ways in which a food’s unique energy
affects the energy in your body. Does it warm you
up or cool you down? Does it build you up or clean
you out? Does it make you feel lighter or heavier?
Does it make you feel more grounded or more
energized? Does it make your insides more damp or
more dry? And so on…
I know, I know. You might be wondering: what
happened to simply counting calories? Or, looking
at the ratio of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats?
Looking at your food choices through the lens of
energetics might be totally new to you, and that’s
a good thing! If you want to see different results
in your life and boost your performance, you can’t
keep doing the same thing again and again. You
need to be inspired to try on a different way of
thinking and being – so, stay with me and see what
you learn.
If you want to lose weight, then your energy is
likely sluggish, making it easier to stay glued to
the couch and than head outside to enjoy your day.
To counter this, you want to pick foods that will
motivate your body to get moving and let go of the
excess.
Here are two foods to consider — one you’ve
heard of and another that may be totally new to
you:
–Fresh ginger root, which is known to promote
healthy digestion and blood circulation, as well
as warm up the body, which is said to aid in the
fat burning process
–Burdock root (aka “gobo” in Japanese cuisine),
which is known to cleanse the blood, thereby
freeing up your energy and even leading to clearer
thinking. It’s energetic effects are also
recognized as helping to reduce sweet cravings and
reduce fat levels in the body.
Eating either or both of these foods is like
saying out loud to everyone you know: “Yes,
indeed, I do want to get things moving and release
this extra weight now! I want to feel lighter and
move more easily in my body so I can perform
better in my daily life!”
On the other hand, here are two foods that you
should definitely keep eating if you want to enjoy
the same old heavy, achy, stagnant feeling:
–French fries. Yes, they taste so good, but the
general category of fatty, greasy, deep-fried
foods have sluggish energetic qualities that
contribute to poor digestion and slower
metabolism. Plus, as you likely know already,
foods fried at high heat are laden with trans fats
and contribute to inflammation in the body, which
can cause or exacerbate joint pain.
— Ice cream. You likely already know that high
sugar intake relates to high insulin levels in the
body which leads to more fat being stored and more
difficulty releasing fat from its storage places
in the body. But you may not know that processed
foods that are filled with refined sugars actually
drain your energy, muddle your thinking, and can
make your bowels sluggish.
Eating either or both of these foods is like
saying: “Ooooh, yes, I really really really want
to hold on tight to this extra weight, feel tired,
and generally lack in enthusiasm for life? Please,
please, can I?” But, really now, do you? I don’t
think so.
So, try on this new idea of food energetics and
see what you learn about yourself, your weight,
your performance, and so much more.
